![]() I'll give yours and the dude on the Apple forum a try. If resetting the prefs on only one machine doesn't work for you, reset them the same way on all machines. If you find some settings that you want back after trying this and can't set up again manually, quit iTunes and drag your old prefs file back into the ByHost folder to revert to your previous setup.Īlso, for me it was only necessary to do this on one machine. Of course make sure to do the rest of things mentioned on this thread: authorizing your computer, enabling library sharing in the preferences, and of course turning on home sharing itself.Ĭhucking this prefs file will also wipe out a few other settings, including the name you've assigned to your library that it shows up as when being shared on the network, possibly Apple TV sync settings, and maybe others I haven't noticed. You will probably be prompted to accept the license agreement again.įor me, it appears that there was something amiss with that preferences file and starting fresh with a new one got home sharing working for me. Hell, I even changed my iTunes account from UK to US. Turned the firewalls on and off a million times Tried it with the same library names on each and then the three separate library names All three computers are using the same iTunes account Not a single one of these systems can see each other. Laptop2 is clean.īut the above might help with this whole misadventure. But even if something went wrong there, I'd at least expect Laptop2 to be able to see either PC1 or Laptop1. Modifying whateverthehell.xml file didn't work very well so I imported everything as a new library. ![]() I couldn't make a true copy of the other. Somewhere I saw a tutorial on how to change the ID, but I can't find it now. ![]() Those libraries: did you create the two on the laptops by copying your library from PC1? Each library has a unique ID number, but when you make a direct copy you end up with multiple libraries with the same ID, and Home Sharing doesn't work (I guess iTunes sees the shared one and thinks it's looking at itself).
